This Saturday, 21st January is Race Against Dementia Day. Race Against Dementia is a global charity founded by Sir Jackie Stewart in 2016. It is dedicated to funding pioneering research for treating and preventing dementia.
Currently, over 55 million people are living with dementia. This figure is constantly rising. In the UK alone, 600 people develop dementia each day. There is currently no cure for dementia, although some treatments can ease its symptoms such as the recent breakthrough drug, Lecanemab.
Race Against Dementia encompasses a unique ‘Formula 1 attitude’ towards accelerating the development of innovative ideas and solutions. The funds raised on RAD Day will go towards supporting the Race Against Dementia Fellowship Programme. Find out how you can get involved with them here.
BVS has a range of over 60 video-based social care courses including two Dementia Care courses.
